Tudor Compatible Precision Bezel Installation Guide

(Tudor Friction-Fit System)

While home installation is possible by carefully following the steps below, we strongly recommend having this work carried out by a professional independent watchmaker experienced in bezel assembly. Authorised retailers for any specific watch brand will not undertake this modification.

Bezel Removal Steps

  1. Apply masking tape around the case sides and lugs to protect against scratches.
  2. Insert a case knife at the 7 o’clock position on the case side, between the bezel and the case.
  3. Use a controlled rocking motion to gradually lift the bezel — do not pry or force.
  4. Once loosened, gently lift off the bezel and set it aside.
  5. If the click plate and any of the four spring plungers are dislodged during removal, retain them and reinstall carefully in their original positions.

Insert Removal & Replacement

  1. To remove the original insert, flip the bezel over and use a press tool with a flat nylon die to push the insert out from the underside.
  2. To install a new insert, align it correctly and press it into the bezel from the topside using the same press and an appropriate die.
  3. Ensure the die does not contact or stress the insert’s edge — use only flat or shallow concave dies that match the insert’s shape.

Bezel Installation Steps

  1. Lightly grease the new nylon ring and insert it into the bezel groove.
  2. Clean all parts and check the click springs and plate for wear.
  3. Reinstall the spring plungers and click plate.
  4. Align the bezel so the triangle is at 12 o’clock, ensuring springs remain upright.
  5. Using a press with a flat nylon die, apply slow, even pressure until the bezel snaps on.

Final Checks

  • Bezel is secure — no rocking or gaps
  • Rotation is smooth and even
  • Triangle aligns perfectly at 12 o’clock

Important Notes

  • Never press the bezel on by hand — always use a proper press.
  • Apply only a minimal film of lubricant; do not over-grease.
  • If you are not a trained technician, have the bezel installed by a watchmaker familiar with Tudor friction-fit systems.
  • Any modification to your watch — including bezel replacement — may void the manufacturer’s warranty. Proceed at your own discretion.
