Rolex – Half Link Installation Guide
Tools Required
- Oyster bracelet: 1.6 mm flat-blade watchmaker’s screwdriver
- (Optional) Purple Loctite 222 low-strength threadlocker — may help secure the screw, but avoid excess as it can make future removal difficult.
Installation Steps
- Decide where to add the half link
- Half links can be used not only to fine-tune bracelet length, but also to restore balance if the clasp sits off-centre on the underside of the wrist when the watch head is centred on top.
For fit adjustments, place the half link on the 6 o’clock side if you need more length, or split changes evenly on both sides of the clasp.
Remove the bracelet screw
- Identify the link where the new half link will be added.
- Seat the correct screwdriver fully in the screw slot and turn counter-clockwise to remove the screw.
Carefully separate the link.
Install the Steel Reef half link
- Position the half link between the open ends of the bracelet.
- (Optional) Apply a very small drop of Loctite 222 to the screw threads.
Insert the screw and tighten clockwise until snug — do not overtighten.
Final check
- Ensure the link moves freely and the screw head sits flush.
Try the watch on to confirm both fit and clasp position; adjust further if needed using the clasp’s micro-adjustment holes.
